California District 50 Special Election

A new Survey USA poll shows that Republican Brian Bilbray is leading Democrat Francine Busby 47%-45%. That is better than the tie in the last poll. Perhaps it was Busby's rather stupid comment about illegal immigration.

This is an absolutely critical special election for the Democrats.

In order to have any practical chance at taking control of the House, they need to win all or most of the open seats, including those in traditionally GOP districts. This is Duke Cunningham's old seat, so, while it has long been a safe Republican district, if the "culture of corruption" meme is going to sell anywhere, it should be there.

Of course, the Democrats do also bear the burden of the Kos Kiss of Death here, as the leftist guru has this one on his "list" . . . he is 0 - for - 19 in his targeted races so far . . .

The Survey USA was BEFORE Busby's series of gaffes. Also, as I recall, Survey USA somewhat overstated Busby's percentage in the primary. Bottom Line: Republicans hold the seat.
