Some Things About CA-50 That You Probably Haven't Heard

Bruce Kesler has some really interesting information about the Bilbray - Busby race that I haven't seen anywhere else, including an account of some campaign directing observed in a parking lot by Bruce personally and what he overheard some in her campaign say relating to Busby's choice of apparel and overall image. He also points to some reasons that the Bilbray win was not as slam dunk as a 3-2 Republican registration would suggest due to the amount of national party attention given to the race, the fact that it was a Democratic slate of primary candidates, etc. Never mind my summary, just go read his post.

An additional note: with the decades of gerrymandering "safe" districts, it has become extremely difficult to unseat incumbents in the House. They are reelected at a 98.5% clip.

Therefore, in order for the Democrats to retake the House, they absolutely have to take several of the few "open" GOP seats as well as win most of the few truly competitive districts. Losing Cal-50 is a major blow to that effort, especially since the incumbent resigned in a major corruption scandal. If their "culture of corruption" meme was going to work in GOP-leaning districts anywhere, it would have been here.

Not good news for Dems at all last night.

Didn't Kos "target" this race, too? Does this make him 0 - for - 20 in House races he has "targeted?"

Back when I was an undergrad, I was on the "spirit squad" of my college's basketball team, going to every home game and wearing team colors, etc. (no face painting, tho).

The team went 4-22 that year. We were a really nasty bunch as a result, yelling insults at visting teams and coaches. I can't say I'm proud of myself for that.

Anyway, I think this says something about the Kos crowd.
