According to a new Quinnipiac Poll, Ned Lamont, the ultra-liberal challenger to Joe Lieberman, trails the incumbent 55%-40%.

I heard elsewhere that Lieberman promised to run as a Democrat - any ideas if that would cause him to eschew a run as an independent if he were to lose this?

Personally, I think Republicans ought to throw support behind Lieberman. Yes, I want to see Republican take the seat. But you know it never hurts to help the right competition if it improves the breed from the electorates view point.
