2006 Ohio Governor Race

This is a rather interesting article on the Gubernatorial race in Ohio, which points out that many of the usual assumptions do not apply since the Democrat is from the sparsely populated southwestern part of the state and the Republican is an African-American from a city. It's a shame that Blackwell has to be running in 2006, given the recent state of affairs for Ohio Republicans, thanks to Bob Taft. Recent polling has him down anywhere from 6 points to double-digits.

Ted Strickland is anything ... (Below threshold)

Ted Strickland is anything but a good campaigner, though.

I think this one will be close, but Blackwell can pull it off.

This race is much tighter t... (Below threshold)
John France:

This race is much tighter than some poles have it. The Univ. of Cinncinati pole is the most reliable I've seen and it was under the 6% gap I think. Blackwell is agreat campaigner. Yesterday I read in the Toledo Blade about Blackwells appearance at a Statewide meeting of University Bigs in which Candidate Blackwell made a great impression even thought the Trustee's etc. were skeptical because he is not a big spender which state university trustee's would perfer obvious reasons. Ken put forth many of his ideas for higher education and by the end of the meeting had many on his side. Wher was Ted Strickland? He was a NO SHOW.
