2006 Pennsylvania Governor Race

It appears that third party candidate Russ Diamond will not make the ballot in Pennsylvania. This will certainly help Lynn Swann. According to one recent poll, Diamond was attracting support in the low single digits. Indeed, in the latest Rasmussen Poll, taken in June, Rendell earned 50%, Swann earned 36%, and the third party candidates (namely Diamond) earned 6%. Add 6% to Swann and you have a race in the mid-single digits.

Most states make it pretty ... (Below threshold)

Most states make it pretty tough to get on the ballot. This case illustrates why there is argument to be made in favor of the strictures.

That an independent ought to demonstrate some sort of broad support before being allowed on, for example . . . of course, such restrictions always seem to work in favor of the two established parties, coincidentally . . .
