The idea that Webb was going to make a close race of it was always nothing but a moonbat/fMSM fantasy. Allen might not be a strong national candidate - it remains to be seen - but he is extremely strong in Virginia. Notice that the popular immediately former Governor, Mark Warner, decided not to make the race, even though a potential match-up between him and Allen was being touted a couple years ago as a preview of 2008.
Webb is quite popular in all the places you would expect, and rather disliked everywhere else.
Similarly, despite polls giving heart to the opposition, incumbents like Burns and Talent and DeWine will be reelected, if not by landslides, by far more comfortable margins than the polls might predict. Republicans will hold the open seat in TN, and have a decent shot at a pickup in MN.
Democratic incumbents Cantwell and Stabenow are in for much more difficult campaigns than originally supposed - because they are such weak Senators.
Maybe -1 in the Senate, -6 or so in the House. Not bad for a second midterm. Surely enough to drive the moonbats into deep depression . . .
:-D

Adjoran, your lips to God's ears. I tell you I have a real fear the Reps will lose the House and I know the Dems will have impeachment hearings.
I have not always agreed with President Bush, immigration and spending to name two, but he has done his best to defend this nation from another 9-11 and for that I will always be grateful.

#1,
If your numbers come out correct, I'll jump for joy and do cartwheels. While I don't believe its as bad as the Democrats and their willing underlings in the press are breathlessly claiming, we are in year six of the current administration, with our performance in some areas underwhelming, and Iraq being portrayed as a dismal failure. We certainly don't know if we will get the kind of base turnout we need given how we've handled issues like spending and immigration, so this probably adds up to as close to a perfect storm for the Democrats as they have had. Fortunately for us, the Democrats don't seem to be anywhere near the top of their game as evidenced by the effort to throw Joe Liebermann out of the party and Steny Hoyer not wanting Nancy Pelosi to become speaker, and no message that offers a preferable alternative. My hunch is that voters would prefer to support Republicans but are disappointed and therefore want to scare them by causing them to lose seats, but not necessarily vote them out of the majority.
Ken

Adjoran,
We MUST GET RID of Chaffee. I hope Santorum holds on in Pennsylvania. The rest of what you write, I agree with, but I expect to pick up New Jersey and possibly Maryland.
My Predicted Results--- A Landslide win for Jon Kyl in Arizona, Wins for DeWine in Ohio, Burns in Montana and Talent in Missouri, a HOLD in the open Republican seat in Tennessee.
Good Republican Possibilities - Kean in New Jersey, MacGavick in Washington and Michigan (The Primary is still to be held there).
Less of a Possibility -- Steele in Maryland and North Dakota

I think the Democrats will pick up 15 seats in the Senate and hold the house 420-15 because that is what I hope for.
I also think the Packers will go 16-0, or 15-1 at worst. The Cavaliers will go 75-7, and the Chicago Cubs will go 140-22. I just think that. It is not based on any polling, or trends, or signings, or rationality. Just hope.
