After throwing millions of dollars into Francine Busby's attempt to take Duke Cunningham's House seat on their "culture of corruption" in the special election in June, national Democrats have apparently thrown in the towel. The North County Times reports HERE:
Last week, the Washington-based publication The Hill reported the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee had set aside nearly $52 million in ad dollars for 32 top-priority congressional elections in the fall. But Busby's run for Congress was conspicuously absent.
Washington political analyst Nathan Gonzales, editor of the Washington biweekly newsletter the Rothenberg Political Report, said Tuesday that national Democrats are simply spending their money wisely. The publication, which Gonzales described as nonpartisan, covers congressional and gubernatorial elections.Given Busby's loss in the runoff and the difficulty of beating the odds in a GOP-dominated district, "Democrats are putting their money where the opportunities are, and California 50 is not one of them," said Gonzales.

When you hear all the dire predictions about this fall, relax, take a deep breath, and remember what they were saying about Cal-50 in the weeks leading up to the special election.
Then, when you keep hearing the same bad news from the same people who predicted Democratic takeovers in 2002 and 2004, recall how often they've been wrong.
Don't get me wrong: this midterm is no cakewalk for Republicans. But we haven't walked the plank, either.
