Colorado 7th CD - key matchup

In a race billed as one of the most competitive matchups in the country, Ed Perlmutter won the Democratic nomination to run against Rick O'Donnell for the seat vacated by Republican Bob Beauprez, who entered the race for Governor instead.

O'Donnell would be the favorite, but Democrats are making hay over a 1995 essay where he advocated abolishing the Social Security system as it exists. The Hill reports HERE:

Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chairman Rahm Emanuel (D-Ill.) reacted to Perlmutter's victory by turning attention away from the bruising primary and toward Social Security, which is likely to be a big issue in the race.

Nearly all of political punditry's premier potentates call this one of the bellwether races in the country. Certainly, it is one of the districts the Democrats must capture to have any hope of taking control of the House.
