Iowa 3rd CD - Boswell backed by Teachers' Union (Wizbang Politics)

In a move that will shock absolutely no one, the Iowa State Education Association is backing incumbent Democrat Leonard Boswell for reelection. Megan Hawkins of The Des Moines Register reports:

The Iowa State Education Association, the teacher's union with 32,000 members, will support U.S. Rep. Leonard Boswell, a Democrat, in his re-election campaign this fall, union president Linda Nelson, said this morning.

The announcement was made during a press conference at the Des Moines Central Library, in response to Iowa Sen. Jeff Lamberti's unveiling of his education plan.

In the same district, Lamberti is getting his own help from an educator. According to KCCI.com, the old perfesser himself, Newt Gingrich is campaigning with Jeff today.

The Cook Political Report rates this race "Lean Democratic."
