Incumbent Republican Heather Wilson questions the judgement of her Democratic opponent, Attorney General Patricia Madrid, in dealing with the prosecution of former Treasurer Robert Vigil on corruption charges. And as Kate Nash reports with The Albuquerque Tribune, other Republicans are going even further:
In her TV ads, Wilson focuses on what she calls Madrid's lack of action to stem alleged corruption in the Treasurer's Office.
In the past week, Harold Field, former secretary of the Department of Finance, and former Gov. Gary Johnson both accused Madrid of knowing about alleged corruption.On Wednesday, the Attorney General's Office released a statement defending her actions.
In the statement, Madrid said she cooperated with the FBI's 2000 investigation into the Treasurer's Office.
