What's with the post above this one? I can't figure out what the "gaffe" is supposed to be. Calling someone guatamalan? I don't get it.

Questions about that post might be better answered ON that thread. Just a thought.
The "gaffe" was in treating the subject lightly when he has the advantage on the issue. He also came off sounding rather patronizing of his foreign-born hired help.
Burns' gaffes aren't usually huge ones, just enough to make you think, "This guy is a SENATOR?"
He's still head and shoulders above the moonbat idiot he's running against, of course - but why is he continually providing the other side with ammo?

I don't see a way to comment on that thread. Still don't.
And I still don't see the "gaffe". Treating what subject lightly? You sound more patronizing to foriegn born help (Is that how we describe an immigrant from Guatemala, the help?) than he does.

You can comment on that thread the same way you did this one. Just click on the little speech bubble at the bottom - it won't show the "show comments" link until there is one.
Look, I don't think it was some major mistake, either - BUT that is the way it is being portrayed in the media, so that's the way we relayed it.
Burns called the guy "a little Guatemalan" and joked about his immigration status. Not a great way to refer to immigrants, or to reinforce your "tough stance on immigration," either.
If "the help" offends your sensibilities, I apologize. I didn't mean to marginalize the employed class.
We report, you decide. Say, that would make a pretty good slogan . . .
;-)

Back to the subject at hand -
Great observation by Kate O'Beirne and a great post, Lorie.
I still think, when it comes to the total package - charisma, telegenics, affability, and conservatism - Mitt Romney is the best choice in the Republican field right now.
It would've served him better to run for reelection in Massachusetts and THEN run for President. But, I don't see anyone else in the field with all those pluses.
