Oklahoma 5th CD - Fallon wins GOP nod (Wizbang Politics)

Oklahoma Lt. Gov. Mary Fallin beats Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett for the GOP nomination to succeed retiring Republican Rep. Ernest Istook, who is running for Governor.

She will face Democratic nominee David Hunter in the fall, as Ron Jenkins of the Associated Press reports:

Fallin got more than 60 percent of the vote in winning the GOP nomination Tuesday in the 5th Congressional District. "We're going to continue to talk about our conservative message of faith, family and freedom," she said.

She was the first woman and first Republican to be elected lieutenant governor and is bidding to become the first female congressman from Oklahoma since Alice Robertson was elected in 1920.
