Two of the Republican incumbent congressmen considered most vulnerable this fall are Jim Gerlach of PA-6 and Curt Weldon, who represents the 7th. Both candidates were helped yesterday by a visit from Rudy Guiliani, one of America's most popular politicians of either party, as Keith Phucas of the Norristown Times Herald reports:
UPPER MERION - Leveraging his considerable clout as "America's Mayor," a moniker earned for his grace under pressure on Sept. 11, 2001, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani said that Republicans' steadfast support of the war against America's extremist enemies makes them the clear choice for voters in the November election.
Giuliani stumped for incumbent Republican Congressmen Curt Weldon and Jim Gerlach Wednesday at King of Prussia Volunteer Fire Company's packed Allendale Road station. Weldon represents the Seventh Congressional District; Gerlach, the Sixth.
The former mayor said both House candidates comprehend the grave danger terrorists pose to American society, and that their unity on the war effort trumps the divisions that characterize congressional Democrats.

There is hardly a congressional candidate in America who wouldn't welcome Guiliani's help. Hat-tip to David Miller of CQ Politics for pointing to this story.
Both CQ Politics and the Cook Political Report rate the 6th District race as a "toss-up" for incumbent Gerlach, while they show Rep. Weldon's 7th District seat as "lean Republican."
