When the Pentagon announced the involuntary recall of Marines to be deployed in Iraq, incumbent Democratic Rep. John Murtha, hero of the anti-American left, wasted no time in attempting to cast the decision in "quagmire" terms, as RawStory reports:
"Because of the mismanagement of this effort and all the killing and maiming in Iraq," he blasted, "young men and women are not joining the military at the necessary recruitment levels. We're involuntarily recalling Marines and increasing the age limit of soldiers to maintain troop levels.
"If everything were going as well as predicted or depicted by President Bush, Vice President Cheney and Secretary Rumsfeld," he continued, "we would be fulfilling field commander's desires of earlier this year to reduce troops. Instead we're going to extraordinary means to increase them."

I wonder how many times Murtha has to lie about our troops to get another award from Code Pink, who raised money for the terrorists in Iraq killing our troops by ambush?
I've never met Murtha's Republican challenger, Diane Irey, so I don't know what she smells like. But I suspect she doesn't reek with the stench of treason like her opponent.
Just a wild guess, mind you.

Murtha has a number of weaknesses and it is a mistake to focus on the military issue alone. He is a big supporter of pork. He consistently votes for higher taxes and more spending. He voted against raising the minimum wage because the bill contained an extension of a number of tax credits and tax cuts. He voted against the line item veto.

I can't think of anything that would make me happier than Murtha being defeated on November 7th. I have donated to the Irey campaign and I hope that all Americans who don't want to loose the war on Islamofascism will do the same.
Lets get the terrorist's allies out of the American government!

I can excuse Murtha for this (not really), I mean, there were a few months a while back that we didn't meet the recruiting goals and that was plastered all over every news agency. While we've met the recruitment goals for 8 (9, 10?) months straight now, the media has kept it pretty quiet.

Conservative_D:
Murtha is the ranking Democrat and former chairman of the House Defense Appropriations Subcommittee. He should (and almost certainly does) have that information at his fingertips.

fatman,
Sorry, the sarcasm didn't seem to get through. It's always a problem with this medium. :)
