From Time Magazine's profile of Nancy Pelosi:
Nancy Pelosi, the leader of the Democrats in the House, portrays herself as a polite, grandmotherly lady. She constantly discusses her five grandchildren, makes sure her office is stocked with Ghirardelli chocolates, perpetually smiles and never swears in a business in which almost everyone else does...Don't believe it for a second. Would your grandmother ever say, "If people are ripping your face off, you have to rip their face off" (Pelosi's approach to handling attacks from Republicans)? How about "If you take the knife off the table, it's not very frightening anymore" (her explanation for why she won't let voters forget George W. Bush's unpopular Social Security proposal from last year)?
The 66-year-old San Francisco lawmaker is an aggressive, hyperpartisan liberal pol who is the Democrats' version of Tom DeLay, minus the ethical and legal problems of the former Republican House leader. To condition Democrats for this fall's midterm elections, she has employed tactics straight out of DeLay's playbook: insisting other House Democrats vote the party line on everything, avoiding compromise with Republicans at all cost and mandating that members spend much of their time raising money for colleagues in close races.

Since we've pointed out how effective Tom Delay's machinations have been over the years, we can hardly be bothered when leading Dems use the same playbook. While these actions may put some of her caucus in a difficult position with their constituents, it makes sense that she force them to follow party lines and support each other campaigning. What will be more interesting than Pelosi's maneuvering is the response of the moderate part of the Democrat wing. We have our Main Street Republicans, what is their moderate wing called?

The "moderate" wing of the Democrats I call the Marxist wing. The Pelosis and the Ned Lamonts are the "liberal", AKA Stalinist wing, of the party.
As for Pelosi supposedly having no "ethics" problems, leading a party as corrupt and EVIL as the Democrat party's is, I would think she'd have that "problem" in spades. Let's just say when Judgment Day comes, I wouldn't want to be called to account for that party's sins.

Pelosi took many a lobbyist-financed trip, far more than DeLay or any Republican, which is why they dropped that part of their "culture of corruption" meme.
There are similarities in approach, it is true. Still, seems rather a nasty thing to do to a man when he is down - compare him with Pelosi.
