2006 Texas 23rd Congressional District Race

Perhaps the strongest Democratic challenger to Republican incumbent Henry Bonilla seems to have dropped out of the race.

If this is true, it means that the only truly vulnerable Republican seat in Texas is the seat presently held by Tom Delay. Unlike some Republicans, I believe it is a race we can win. That said, it is going to take a lot of money that could be spent in races in other places.

Wait a cotton-pickin' minut... (Below threshold)

Wait a cotton-pickin' minute here - Rodriguez withdrew from the race early today, but now he's thinking about getting back in?

He was concerned about campaign debt, money started flowing in, and so he may run after all . . . shades of Ross Perot . . . or better yet, Oral Roberts' demand for donations "or the Lord will call me Home."

He was considered the major threat to Bonilla in the adjusted-redistricted district, one of the several changed by judges. But if he can't even stay in the black, Bonilla's war chest should win out in the end.
