All the analysts and pundits are pointing to Democratic successes in November, but they have a traditionally weak turnout in off-year elections, and the Republican get-out-the-vote effort has been refined into a well-oiled machine by Karl Rove. Just when the Democrats could use a few friends with fat checkbooks . . . "friends just can't be found" . . .
Josephine Hearn of The Hill has the story:
With their political prospects flying high, Democrats are turning their attention to mobilizing voters for the fall election and are worried that so the deep-pocketed donors who helped them in 2004 will sit this election out.
"In 2004, there was significant support by large national donors on behalf of the Democratic ticket," said Rep. Artur Davis (D-Ala.), one of a handful of lawmakers highly active with the Democrats' campaign operation. "That level of energy has not materialized to date, and that is disappointing considering the tremendous stakes and opportunities available to Democrats this cycle."Rep. Rahm Emanuel (D-Ill.), chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, has been more pointed.
"In the 2004 election there were some very active players who, as far as I can tell, have now decided they're neither going to be involved in the field, advertising or anything," Emanuel told the New York Daily News in August. "Do you know where they are?"

There was an old blues song called, "Nobody Knows You (When You're Down and Out)." But Democrats are supposedly riding high this year . . . I heard it on the interwebs!
Hmmm . . .

In other words, George Soros does not find the same appeal in trying to buy the Presidency as he does buying New Mexico CD-1.
And the Democrats are surprised at this?

I think this shows the democratic politicians lack of comprehension about money. Spending several million dollars and getting bupkis for it does not generally make you want to spend several million more for which the return will again be bupkis. But the democratic politician can't understand that their lack of having a plan to solve problems, not winning the public trust on national security and their pre-celebration talks about impeachment if they win are not confidence inspiring, even for those who have supported them in the past.

The fact that Harris drew more voters in Florida for the primary than the democrats could turn out should prove to even the most dim of the dimwits that they are a dying breed.
