Democratic nominee Jim Davis is apologizing for a 1990 vote in the state legislature. Brian Skoloff of the Associated Press reports:
After months of political attacks, Democratic gubernatorial nominee Jim Davis is admitting he made a mistake when he voted in the state Legislature to deny compensation for two black men convicted, and later cleared, in the killings of two white men.
Davis scheduled a meeting with Freddie Pitts and Wilbert Lee to apologize to them for his 1990 vote, spokesman Josh Earnest said Tuesday."In keeping his promise that he made a couple of weeks ago, Davis went back and reviewed the record and is going to talk more about the vote based on a fresh look at the 16-year-old case," Earnest said.
Pitts said Tuesday he was pleased at Davis' decision but believed the timing was suspicious.

I agree with Mr. Pitts. Davis refused to concede the point during the primary for fear of looking weak, but having won the nomination he now hopes to avoid any diminished enthusiasm from black voters due to this case.
Davis deserves a "Pander Bear of the Day" award.

I saw this story but didn't blog about it.(Heck its surprising Davis even voted, for he's been an absentee congressman with one of the five worst absentee records) Its trivial, both parties pander on an about equal basis. I don't like Davis, said it so many times at my blog, given him a knucklehead award, and won't be voting for him. Rod Smith may have been able to beat Charlie Crist. I was on the fence over who I would have voted for in that race, because there's a few things I don't like about either of them. With a Davis-Crist race the choice is easy, Crist. Davis will lose in November.
