Missouri voter ID law struck down

A state judge has just struck down Missouri's voter ID law, which required a photo ID to vote, because such IDs aren't 100% free. Kelly Wiese of the Associated Press reports:

A judge struck down Missouri's new voter identification law Thursday as an unconstitutional infringement on the right to vote.

The law required voters to show a federal or Missouri-issued photo ID at the polls, which Cole County Circuit Judge Richard Callahan said was an unconstitutional burden on voters because the paperwork required to get those IDs is not free.

Callahan said the requirement is a particular burden to women and the poor.

Read the rest at the link above. This is a big boost to Democrats, as their chances are enhanced for more voter fraud in the St. Louis area. A photo ID would have slowed those efforts down.

Scrapiron:

Democrats are scared to death for anyone to find out who is voting for them. I guess it would be hard to get a photo ID for someone that has been in the grave for years. Argument against the requirement for a voter ID is possibly the most stupid argument in the country. Especially by the idiots that complain about criminal votes every time they lose. What a bunch of a holes.

Here in STL, the local MSM is absolutely giddy this morning over the news. KMOX 1120 AM Radio is near orgasmic, while the local TV station hosts could barely hide their smiles whne reporting this.

Someone might need to hang around Calvary Cemetery in North St. Louis to see if there are "voter registration" drives today.

Jeremy Wien:

What don't conservatives get?! You cannot charge a poll tax. I know that anyone w/a decent job can make the claim that 10 or 20 dollars for an ID is not unreasonable, but not everyone has a decent job, and those who don't should not be precluded from voting.
