Why DeWine has not defined ... (Below threshold)1. Posted by Steve_in_Corona | September 20, 2006 10:19 AM | Score: 0 (0 votes cast)
Why DeWine has not defined Brown already as a far left liberal is beyond me.
-----------------------------------
Because DeWine stupidly decided to act like a liberal himself and join Democrats in opposition to Bush on key votes this last election cycle.
Here is a guy who was reliabily conservative who thought the key to reelection was to have a voting record akin to Olympia Snowe going into the election.
My only question (if he loses) is if he will be smart enough to realize this is his own fault, or if he will blame Bush for his defeat.

I had swore months ago that I would not vote for DeWine this time. That was then, this is now. Not only am I going to vote for him, wife and I are going to work the phone banks, something we have never done before.
DeWine aint 100% conservative, but neither is he 100% Liberal like Brown

If I thought we could make the seat up somewhere else, I wouldn't give a rat's a** whether or not he lost. Same with Chafee. But since that's probably not going to happen, I guess I'd rather have a liberal R than a whacked out D.

In 2004 DeWine had the same ACU rating (68) as Susan Collins of Maine - a lady who has a lifetime rating of 55 (compared to DeWines previous low 80s)
He followed this up with a lower 56 rating in 2005!
That said, if you live in Ohio, obviously you HAVE to vote for the guy. The GOP does not gain by losing this seat, or sending a message here.
But IF he loses, he has nobody but himself to blame.
However, I think I did answer in my first post why it is he is not campaigning by complaining about the liberalism of his opponent.

I certainly think that Mike is the right guy for the job. When we vote in a Senator do we really want someone who will rubber stamp every issue along party lines? Of course not. If that were the case we should follow some European political models and just vote for parties and forget the individual candidates completely. Ohio wants someone who is consistent within himself and will stand up for his beliefs as to what is best for Ohio and America even if it means standing against the standard GOP line from time to time. I think that Mike is solid conservative and a good Republican but will stand up for what he believes is best, independant of his party, if need be. That is the kind of Senator everyone should want.
