A liberal democrat using race to try to win an election??? No way!

The very liberal Daniel Akaka attempted to win today's primary in Hawaii by pointing out that he is a native Hawaiian, and his primary opponent moderate Ed Case, is white. Is anyone surprised by the fact that the very liberal Akaka can't stand on his far left record, so he is using his race to try to win the primary?
