2006 New Jersey Senate Race

In New Jersey, State Senator Tom Kean has now pulled into a five point lead over Democrat Bob Menendez. I am not about to start guzzling the champagne, but a Kean victory here would be a bright spot for the Republican Party in the Northeast, and with the GOP having serious problems in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New York, and Pennsylvania, it makes Kean's star shine even brighter.

Tom Kean, Jr. is an impress... (Below threshold)

Tom Kean, Jr. is an impressive fellow, who might be able to hold this seat if he can win it.

At this point, the major threat to him winning is the "ol' switcheroo" tactic, where the Democrats might substitute another candidate late and bank on the "D" behind his name to carry the day. You know, like they did with Torricelli.

I suspect we will be calling him a RINO, of course, but let us appreciate the novelty of the chance to hold that seat for a while first, mmmkay?

Scrap, stupid voters reveal... (Below threshold)

Scrap, stupid voters revealed themselves when they elected Bush.

I am so glad my parents will make sure they don't vote for Keane. They will also smack down Menendez for his vote this week.
