Democratic candidate Deval Patrick's efforts on behalf of a convicted rapist go beyond what he first said, Townhall.com reports:
Democratic gubernatorial candidate Deval Patrick acknowledged Wednesday he had more contact with a convicted rapist than he had previously told reporters, after a report showed he corresponded with the man in the 1990s and wrote at least two letters to the parole board on his behalf.
Patrick, who last week said he had written just one letter more than a decade ago on behalf of convicted rapist Benjamin LaGuer, said he had to correct himself after going back and "doing his homework."
Read the rest at the link above. While it is doubtful this will have a major effect on the race, since Patrick is considered well ahead, it does go to the character of the man. He spent years working on behalf of a very cruel and violent criminal, then lied about it until he was caught in the lie.

What is so sick about this ... (Below threshold)1. Posted by Mark | October 5, 2006 8:18 AM | Score: 0 (0 votes cast)
What is so sick about this is that Patrick paid $5000 dollars so the man could have a DNA test to prove his innocence. Well it didn't, it proved he was the killer.
And the Boston Globe asked Patrick knowing what you know now, would you still pay for the DNA test, and he answered YES.
This is a candidate for the Gov of Massachusetts, what have we stooped to? We live in a Bizarro world.
