MacArthur was fired for disobeying orders. That's bad generaling.
Talent came across like a tool this morning. He opposes the Constitution, which is always bad politics, and said that, knowing what we know now, he'd vote for illegal, immoral, and catastrophic war again. The only good thing one can say about him is that he repeats Bush drivel by rote.
Good luck with your man!

Actaully MacAuthur wanted to win another war and Truman had already flip flopped and was ready to cut and run. Korea is a mess today because of Truman's failure, not MacAuthur's. Baa Baa Black Sheep.

I think Talent sounded good but the Democrats are probably firing up the buses to do the poll voting rounds in St. Louis....
Now that's about the only time they get efficient.

What Truman did was remarkable...the president of the USA is the comm.-in-chief and as such, he had the right to fire MacAuther.

A key debate to be sure. As comments point out, argument from history was on prominent display in this one.

He opposes the Constitution
He does? Boy, when will the politicians ever learn: when the questionaire asks "Are you for or against the Constitution", you should always check the box next to "For".
and said that, knowing what we know now, he'd vote for illegal, immoral, and catastrophic war again.
Oh for crying out loud... if you have proof of actual illegality, as opposed to sinister conspiracy theories the voices in your head whispered during a bout of fevered dementia, then submit it to Congress posthaste. Put up or shut up. For the nth time, no matter what your opinion of Iraq war, it was not illegal by any definition of the word; Bush got Congressional and international buy-in, more so than several other Presidents which have undertaken "police actions" or "skirmishes" in our nation's history.
I hereby submit the first comment on this thread as Exhibit A for why we should never trust national security to anyone the KosKiddies support.
