Florida 16th CD - Democrats sue to keep voters in dark

Republicans face an uphill battle to keep the once-"safe" seat vacated by disgraced Rep. Mark Foley. One problem is his resignation came too late to change the name on the ballot, but Florida law provides that votes cast for Foley will count for his replacement, State Sen. John Negron. Election officials plan to post notices at the precincts advising voters that votes cast for Foley will be counted for Negron.

Naturally, Democrats sued, as the Palm Beach Post reported. An interesting tidbit shows that Democratic nominee Tim Mahoney is attempting to distance himself from this battle:

Mahoney has not said whether he prefers notices.

"It's really not my fight," he said. "I'll let the legal experts decide what the best thing to do is."

Read the whole article at the link above. Mahoney actually has a strong interest in the suit, as The Florida Masochist notes:

Mahoney is involved in this suit. If he didn't want one, Mahoney could tell the Democratic party to take a flying leap. Then don't forget the candidate filed a suit over television advertisements run by Mark Foley before the page scandal broke.

The Democrats want to keep voters in the dark which is despicable. If the GOP or one of their candidates pulled this BS, I'd be just as outraged. This is just one more example of dirty tricks and our courts being used for political fights.

For playing politics instead of the issues, the Florida Democratic Party and Tim Mahoney are today's knuckleheads of the day.

Read his entire post at the link above, and follow his link to the story on the lawsuit against Mahoney's firm, which helped shield a fraudulent company from the investors it defrauded. Nice guy.

The democ'rat party had no ... (Below threshold)
Scrapiron:

The democ'rat party had no plan in the 90's and the criminals and antique MSM ran the country. The criminals are for the most part now in jail (less those pardoned by Slick at midnight) and the antique MSM outlets are all on the verge of going under.

The criminal element now includes the democ'rat party all over the country. If elected they will allow organized crime and the antique MSM to again run the country into the ground. I don't know if anyone will be willing to come along and clean up the garbage dump they leave again, and the prisons are almost full.

When you have no plan you resort to slime, slander and crime. That's all the democ'rat party knows.
