Is it a surprise to anyone ... (Below threshold)1. Posted by Scrapiron | October 21, 2006 10:07 PM | Score: 0 (0 votes cast)
Is it a surprise to anyone that ad revenue would drop at media outlets that slant every story to one side, usually the enemies of the country. There is bad news out here and everyone should know it by now. Not all of us are stupid liberals, and those of us that support 'America' don't support companies that support one sided liberal reporting.
Most don't know that there is a boycott of Ford because of some of its ad's and thousands of people are supporting the boycott. Ford should have reconized by now since their sales are in the toilet and someone just flushed them into the sewer.
Myself, I haven't purchased a Heinz product since the lying sack of s*** traitor ran for president.
O'Reilly boycott of France was super effective.
More and more media outlets are doomed to the same fate, death by inches. That is Less inches of print leads to less companies that will support them and eventual death.

Scrappy, a boycott of Heinz products is misplaced. Most of the Heinz family, like Teresa's late husband, are Republicans and support Republicans. She controls only a fraction of the stock, and has no role in the companies' operations, although she remains on the board of the charitable foundation.
I would note the gloomy forecast for these papers come in the midst of labor contract negotiations. Management seldom paints a rosy picture at such times.
Obviously, "old media" is on a long-term decline. For newspapers in particular, the outlook is bleak. Declining literacy in the population over the last thirty years - since newspaper circulation hit its peak - had etched the dismal future for the industry long before their product became available for free online the night before.
For television, the advent of cable and satellite programming has multiplied the choices available to the viewing public, resulting in a steep decline in ratings for the broadcast networks.
All media, old and new, are faced with the new reality: viewers must be earned every day in a new and open competition. It's a Brave New World of information and entertainment technology.

The Daily News has been long recognized editorially as this side of socialism but the Inquirer has careened between middle of the road and leftism. I think the downfall came in the last presidential election when the Inquirer ran three weeks of editorials solid in support of Kerry. I had been a ten year subscriber of the paper but, after that series, I believe I am not alone that the paper deserved no support and have cancelled subscriptions. They have still not recovered nor apparently will they.
