Hawkins has become such a wet blanket. I just don't understand why so many people are willing to jump on the Eeyore bandwagon.
You and Scott have a much better perspective. For instance, there was a Reuters story the other day showing Democrats leading in 12 of the 15 "targeted" Republican seats in districts Kerry won in '04. Sounds tough, until you realize that they were outside the margin of error in only three of those. In 1994, to compare, there were 39 Democratic seats in districts won by G.H.W. Bush - who only received 37% of the popular vote nationally.
There will be plenty of time to cry in our beer later if we lose. If we suffer a very narrow defeat, one of the factors will undoubtedly have been the naysayers spreading negativism constantly.
Out of curiosity, was this a telephone conference call or done over the internet?
