Hey, John Murtha! You've accused American troops of heinous war crimes before any investigation, led the charge for "cut and run" foreign policy, and been named terrorist-sympathizer group Code Pink's "Man of the Year." WHAT are you gonna do now?
Murtha should have gone to Disneyland. Instead, he endorsed the most pro-criminal, most pro-terrorist, and least honest candidate for Congress, Minnesota's Keith Ellison, a/k/a Keith Hakim, a/k/a Keith X. Mohammed, a/k/a Keith Mohammed-Ellison, who has made a career of supporting cop-killers, terrorists, and Louis Farrakhan, and whose law practice was mainly defending gang-bangers.
It's a match made in heaven - or at least in one of Karl Rove's fantasies.
Gary Gross demolishes the Odd Couple over at Murtha Must Go. A few excerpts follow:
I know that most Pennsylvanians don't know much about Keith Ellison. I'll fill you in on that shortly. First, though, let me start by saying that endorsing Keith Ellison is an idicator of Mr. Murtha's willingness to say anything to achieve greater power. Here's what's posted on the Ellison for Congress website about Mr. Murtha's endorsement:
Said Rep. Murtha today: "Keith Ellison has a solid record of standing up for what he believes in and working tirelessly for his constituents. He is a bright, courageous public servant who is going to make Minnesota very proud in Congress."Study those words because I want you to view them through the lens of what Keith Ellison has said in the recent past

Praising a convicted copkiller as someone "fighting for freedom" isn't my idea of a "bright, courageous public servant" who will "make Minnesota very proud in Congress." I suspect that PA-12 voters won't agree with Mr. Murtha's statement either.

Remember what Mr. Murtha said: "Keith Ellison has a solid record of standing up for what he believes in and working tirelessly for his constituents." Unfortunately, Mr. Ellion's 'constituents' appear to be criminals.

Of course it's possible that Mssrs. Ellison and Murtha are similar. One of Mr. Ellison's biggest supporters is CAIR, a terrorist supporting organization. Code Pink, the anti-war organization that protests outside Walter Reed Army Medical Center, 'honored' Mr. Murtha as their Man of the Year. Doesn't that sound like a 'hand-in-glove' fit?
That's gonna leave a mark. Read it all at the link above. Then, if so inclined, send a donation to Diane Irey, the courageous Commissioner opposing Murtha's reelection. Since Murtha is ducking debates with Irey like the "cut and run" specialist he is, paid advertising is the only way she can get her message out. In these last few days, every dollar can help.

Shows Murtha with a 57-30 lead in a poll. Plus a 5-1 money advantage. If the R and D were reversed in this race any GOP blogger would have written off the candidate. This is pimping for a lost cause. A donation now is as hopeless as I said it was almost three months ago.

At least tell people to support a candidate with a chance, not a fantasy.

When they brought up some poll showing Mark Kennedy down 23 points in Minnesota, I offered to take Kennedy +23 in a wager. No takers. When someone posted a poll showing Allen down 4 in Virginia, I offered to take Allen +4. No takers.
If you want to give me Irey and 27 points, I'll take that, too.
First, though, look at a map of the 12th CD - it resembles a Jackson Pollack paint splatter from the gerrymandering - and then tell me how a pollster makes calls in the district.
Dan Rostenkowski and Tom Foley were also "unbeatable," right up until they got beat.

Jim,
I've offered a $100 bet to anyone on the Murtha-Irey race. No one has taken it up to date, not even you.
Take my wager or give it up and admit you been wrong and suckering people for 3 months. John Hawkins has dropped Irey from the important races for Rightroots money.

If Murtha wins 55-45 or 62-38 it don't matter, a win is a win.

You offered up a poll to buttress your argument. If you believe that poll is credible - your linked article not only shows no details, it doesn't even say who took it or when - stand behind it. If you don't, why post it?
If you don't want to contribute to Irey, then don't. The odds are certainly against her. The odds were against challengers to Rosty and Tom Foley, too, and if everyone took your attitude about it, they might still be in Congress. Well, Rosty had that prison time to do, but . . .

Jim,
I've spoken to the NRCC on three occasions, they haven't even run a poll for Irey as of a month ago. Today I called again asking and am hoping for a call back. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette is the only media operation to put up any poll data, I don't know where it came from.
Foley had multiple serious challenges while in office.
Rostenkowski's loss was a one-time fluke due to a present day scandal.
My $100 bet offer stands. Put up!

Aw, c'mon Bill! I've never said Irey was anything but a long shot. When I wager on underdogs, I take the point spread.
Foley was the first sitting Speaker defeated in over a century - it was HUGE upset. Rostenkowski's defeat was due to scandal, of course, and Murtha has generated some scandalous stuff over the last two years. Nothing earth-shattering on the ethics/legal front - although certainly questionable - but he has gone off the deep end with his anti-military ranting, support of Code Pink (who raised money for Iraqi terrorists shooting at our guys), and now endorsing the guy who loves cop-killers AND terrorists, as noted in the main post. His district is heavily blue-collar, with plenty of "Reagan Democrats" and a heavy concentration of military/veteran families who should be extremely offended.
Every election year there are a couple of big upsets no one predicted. I have no reason to believe Murtha will be one of this year's - BUT I have plenty of reason to HOPE he is, as he is one of the most loathsome members of Congress today.
