I was unconscious when we lost the House and - possibly - Senate, recovering from having my appendix removed after passing a kidney stone the week before. But before I went in for surgery, I had already warned why Republicans were in trouble; many weak Republicans deserted the President, preferring to believe the Democrats' spin that they could only keep their seats by distancing themselves from Dubya. This was a stupid, stupid decision and ultimately the biggest factor in their defeat. Putting it bluntly, to win this year the GOP needed turnout at least equal to the Donks' turnout, and it just did not happen. Why should a Republican support a guy acting like a Democrat? And there was simply no hope that anyone who preferred the Democrat would switch to the Republican because he started acting like a Democrat. In the end, acting like a Democrat only helped the Democrats, though some Democrats won by acting like Republicans.
Quitting support for the President essentially meant quitting being a Republican Congressman or Senator.

The winners in this election are the terrorists.
The losers are the American people. They just don't know it yet.

OHConservative, I agree with your comment and it will be a hard lesson tempered by thousands and maybe hundreds of thousands of deaths.
Actually the winners are the terrorists and the criminal aliens that have invaded America. The losers will be the working class Americans and the Sunni Iraqi's who will undergo a mass slaughter just like the people of Southeast Asis did. Compliments of the dim's.
The dim's care about nothing but their ego's and are incapable of protecting this country.
Time for all of the conservative blogs to set up watch groups for each democrat in congress. At least half are already criminals and the other half won't be far behind. Replay of the lying criminal 90's.
If you are in the military, get the he** out now.
If you are thinking of enlisting, Don't
The fate of the military under Dimmy Carter and Slick Willie should be evidence enough that you don't want to be involved with the anti-American and Anti-Military crowd. Getting killed for a cause in honorable, getting killed for an idiotic cowardly congress in not honorable, actually it's stupid.

Good call. Although the spin is that Republicans lost because of the war (those that DID vote said it was the war), Republicans seem to have lost because their base simply didn't show up (there were a lot of close races it looks like). And that, I have to think, is more a result of Congressional spending, ANWR, illegal immigrants (defined by the press as 'immigrants'), failure to push hard enough for conservative judges...the list just goes on. Yeah, the ones that went said it was the war. The war got liberals to TURN out, all the non-conservative bull that Congress has been pulling for the past few years, though, is was made the conservatives TUNE out. That's my completely unscientific opinion, though, based on the poor turnout and the fact that most conservatives probably don't want to have terrorists treating our cities like Baghdad.

I know who to blame and that is the lame president we have in Bush.
Listen, the dems only won like that due to Bush and his cronies failure:
to protect america,
SECURE OUR BORDERS AS 76%OF ALL AMERICANS WANTED HIM TO DO.
follow the laws of this land, the constitution,
and LISTENING TO THE PEOPLE WHO PUT THEM IN OFFICE.
It was a protest vote, not for dems, as you know, but against Bush and the stupid antics he has ...
It only goes to show you where Bush does stand when, during his press conference, he actually stated that now, it would be easier for him to pass the Amnesty Bill with the Democrats in charge.
Doesn't he get what 76% of Law abiding Americans are saying, MUCH LESS HIS OWN PARTY.
They want our nation secured, especially if were going to be at war.
And he calls himself a christian, a republican, any name that would be a decent portrail of someone who cares about our country.
Well is everyone now ready for roughly 30 million Illegal aliens getting amnesty in the near future, getting free bee's that we have to work for, etc... well thats our President.
Oh by the way, check out the govermnet site:
spp.gov, keeptexasmoving.com, minutemanproject.com for just some of what lies instore for the NAU and our nation in the near future, that has already started taken place.
God Bless America

I certainly expect to hear from fake Republicans like "Rob". 62 million plus voted for Dubs in 2004, but you figure he's the problem, not some me-me-ego RINOs who think they alone have the answers.
You're not even worth spitting on Ron, but please explain to me how opening the door for Pelosi and Reid, etc, will do one damned thing to improve National Security, let alone border security.
Your pride made you a traitor. Pelosi says thanks, I'm sure.

DJ,
Like many I have been very angry with the Republicans and how unconservatively they have governed. With that said, I still got out there and gave time at the phonebanks and putting stamps on mailers and voted "R" straight down the line. I, too, would have liked to teach the R's in congress a lesson - but not at this cost and not at such a crucial time.
Now, to my point on your post. While I could vote of either Rudy or Mitt - I don't think I could ever vote for McPain. I think that may be asking too much and would suggest that somehow we make sure that is not the choice we are left with.
Keep up the great writing, I think this is the first time I've actually disagreed to the point I had to write you.

Rob, In response to the Christian remark. Please note ALOT of the democrats are now ackowledging God, quoting from the Bible daily. (As an aside, some Americans are more afraid of a man proclaiming to get comfort from the Lord more than the Dems who now are becoming a walking talking Bible.) I digress, anyway I always love to hear that from as many dems as possible. Gives me comfort for the day. Before we were barring God==now the Dems seem to be letting him back in. Even saying his name. Wonder if that is hitting any nerves? Heres want you should do Rob, listen for those verses and use that as a daily guide for comfort. I am certainly taking comfort in the Dems making it suddenly ok to say the name of our Savior.
