An early - WAY early - poll shows Rudy with the edge in both of the early caucus states, as James Rowley of Bloomberg reports:
Former New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani leads Senator John McCain of Arizona among voters who may take part in the Iowa and Nevada Republican presidential caucuses in 2008, new polls show.
The surveys show McCain's support slipping among the independents who were an important base of his political popularity in 2000.A telephone survey conducted by the American Research Group of 600 likely Republican caucus voters in Iowa showed Giuliani with 28 percent support to 26 percent for McCain and 18 percent for ex-House Speaker Newt Gingrich.
Giuliani led McCain 31 percent to 25 percent among 600 likely Nevada caucus voters surveyed Dec. 19-23, the group's poll said. Gingrich had 11 percent support and about one-third were undecided.
Read the rest at the link above. Although McCain still leads narrowly in New Hampshire, even there his vaunted support among independents is falling faster than an unescorted Kennedy down the Capitol steps.
