That's fine and all, but I dont vote on environmental issues. Hell, the only way I would is if the candidate stated they would dissolve the Labor Department, the Education department and various other bureaucratic institutions and placed the majority of those responsibilities back to the individual states.

You can't out-demagogue the Democrats. You have to start by saying some national forests, lakes and ponds would be better-managed and kept clean by private interests like Disney World than by state and federal governments. And even before THAT you have to head off the "they want to sell off 'our' national treasures!" crap by saying socialists always use that scare tactic to avoid facing the fact that when "everybody" owns something NOBODY takes good care of it. See The government=society fallacy.

A good, thoughtful article. This, much like land use issues is an area where the Democrats have been able to cream us, largely because we've allowed them to define us. I agree with Governor Sanford that we can impact the debate, but only if we deal ourselves in.

The dhimmi's use a lot of scare tactics but they will now run from one of their big guns. The ACLU has proven that defending the NAMBLA isn't a fluke. They, or at least some of them are child rapist. That made my day to see the bastards caught.

An honest attempt by republicans to solve these problems would be welcomed by environmentalists and others. i am a liberal, but i am open to all ideas on these issues. currently, however, mr. gore is making the biggest effort, while a lot of republicans simply deny the existence of any problem. if you can get your guys on board to at least acknowledge there is a problem in need of solving, we will all go a long way towards solving some of the environmental problems in this country.
