The recently released ratings for members of Congress through 2006 reveal at least one surprise: Obama's voting record is to the left of all Democratic candidates who currently serve in Congress, including Dennis Kucinich.
More liberal than Kucinich? The Mad Mayor who spend Cleveland into bankruptcy? The blithering idiot who proposed a bill to ban "Space-based Mind Control Weapons"? The drooling moron who wants to create a cabinet-level "Department of Peace"? The fulminating fool who thought to impress a black political audience by breaking into song at the podium with a chorus of "Sixteen Tons"?
THAT Dennis Kucinich? You bet your cookies, Chomsky! Steven Thomma of McClatchy Newspapers has the story:
On the Democratic side, the analysis of "lifetime" voting records shows Obama as the most liberal with a score of 84.3 after two full years in the Senate. The most liberal score possible was 99.The lifetime liberal scores for the other Democrats:
-Kucinich, 79.4
-Sen. Christopher Dodd of Connecticut, 79.2
-Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York, 78.8
-Sen. Joseph Biden of Delaware, 76.8
The rankings differ if you look only at their 2006 scores. That year Kucinich edged Obama by one point as the most liberal, and Clinton was the least liberal, as she sought re-election and prepared to launch her presidential campaign.
Read it all at the link above, including a link to the raw data.
On the lifetime ratings, it isn't even close. For all his talk of unity, Obama practices a far-left brand of politics.

If you're going to be a political blogger, you really should read more about Kucinich than just the snippets on Wonkette. Did you check with the city of Cleveland on what they think NOW about Kucinich's term as mayor? Have you read his healthcare bill? What's your problem with peace? You are showing dangerous levels of ignorance here.

Bamaman, great comment. Short and to the point. Think she was one of the yellow cowards carrying the 'yellow' signs at the GoE?
I have relatives living in and around Cleveland and the entire area is a disaster without the benefit (excuse) of a hurricane. Before the communist dwarf it was a booming area with plentiful employment. Proof that one man??? (with the help of stupid voters) can destroy the work of thousands.

I have friends and relatives in Cleveland too and they disagree with your assessment.
"Proof that one man??? (with the help of stupid voters) can destroy the work of thousands." Sounds like Bush to me. Not that I'd expect right-wingers to understand that. Or anything else based on common sense.

Sure - who else is fighting to protect us from Space-based Mind Control Rays?
Of course, most Kucinich supporters would be immune anyway, wouldn't they?

It doesn't make sense to say that Kucinich is a left-winger. The majority of Americans agree with him on the critical issues like getting out of Iraq, health care, union rights, human rights, etc. Cleveland was mugged by the banks and anyone who looks into this will applaud Kucinich's courage when he was the Mayor of Cleveland. By the way, I think the idea of a Department of Peace is a great idea. We need a counter-balance to what Eisenhower identified as the military-industrial complex. Has anyone noticed that we've been in at least four wars since WWII, which was supposed to be the war to end all wars?

Dennis Kucinich?
You mean the ONLY Presidential Candidate who saw through the Bush Administration's lies justifying war with Iraq?
Dennis Kucinich?
The FIRST candidate to come up with a comprehensive 12-point plan for getting out of Iraq?
Dennis Kucinich?
The ONLY candidate not taking corpoate contributions, and therefore not beholden to the wishes of the elite, but the interests of the people?
Yes, THAT Dennis Kucinich!

If the labels were dropped and the issues/positions were closely examined without the rhetoric, you would see that Kucinich is an intelligent candidate worthy of serious consideration. But then again, that is not a difficult achievement contrasted with the current administration.
Personally, I would like to see him play a much more vital role in government in the future. He's just the refreshing difference that this country so needs.

So, good luck!
Of course, I still think he's nuts.

The problem with this is that it doesn't say what issues Obama took a liberal stance on. There are plenty of so-called liberal issues that the overwhelming majority of the U.S. supports. His score in the actually report are 87% for economy and 85% for foreign policies. This could very well mean he simply voted for things like increased minimum wage, tax cuts on the rich, the old liberal standards. In the area of foreign policy, he could have just been against the Iraq War and had a diplomatic stance aligned with many Democrats, hardly anything that extreme. Socially, though, he has just 77%. In this area, undoubtedly the one that voters care the most about, he seems fairly moderate. Hillary, by contrast, has 80% in that category. The McClatchy article seems a little biased by presenting the one-dimensional view of Obama as simply a "liberal".

The formula is well established: How The Vote Ratings Are Calculated.
It's pretty funny: the Obama peeps are mad about being the most liberal of the candidates, while the Kucinich peeps seem mad their guy is not.
