And the crowd goes wild . . .
. . . until they find out it's Tommy, not Fred. From the Associated Press:
Former Wisconsin Gov. Tommy Thompson on Sunday joined the crowded field of Republicans running for the White House in 2008 and proclaimed himself the ''reliable conservative'' in the race.
Thompson, who was health and human services secretary during President Bush's first term, also said he is the only GOP candidate who has helped assemble both a state and federal budget.Since announcing last year he was forming a presidential exploratory committee to raise money and gauge support, Thompson has lagged behind better-known rivals.
Read the whole story at the link above. I think he's running for Vice President. It must be hard to be one of the "second-tier" candidates in either party's contest, with all the money and attention going to the top two or three, and more excitement about big names that are NOT in the race than about your own campaign.
Still they strive on, though.
Hat tip to Dean Barnett at Hugh Hewitt for pointing to this story.

Unbelievable. I said on Hugh Hewitt's blog comments that Thompson had no chance. That was for president. Even for VP he has no chance. Heck, he probably has no chance even for a Senate seat from Wisconsin. He's that far removed from currency.
