Lt. Gov. Mitch Landrieu, brother of Senator Mary Landrieu, has declined to run for the Governor's office being vacated by Kathleen Blanco, according to Doug Simpson of the Associated Press:
Lt. Gov. Mitch Landrieu became the latest Democrat to announce he would not run for governor against the front-runner, Republican U.S. Rep. Bobby Jindal.
"I believe I can best serve the people of Louisiana by finishing the job I started four years ago," Landrieu said in a written statement Monday. He said he would seek re-election instead.
Read the whole thing at the above link. One wonders what important job the Louisiana's Lieutenant Governor performs that Mitch just can't leave undone, but the significance is there will be no "big name" Democrat in the open primary without him or former Senator John Breaux.
Mitch probably wouldn't have given Jindal much of a race, but his name would have meant he had a chance to raise enough money to compete. Jindal's chances of winning a clear majority in the open primary are now even further enhanced.

Mitch Landrieu -- sister to La Dithering Blanco
Both offspring of "Moon" Landrieu ... former mayor of New Orleans -- he was corrupt, but betcha he'd have been aware that a hurricane might hit New Orleans!
