Former Tennessee congressman and current Democratic Leadership Council Chairman Harold Ford, Jr. hosts the DLC's first "Ideas Primary" event in Chicago later today. Jim Geraghty of The Hillary Spot at NRO researches:
If you go to IdeasPrimary.com, you read:
To advance this cause, the DLC is launching IdeasPrimary.com, which will serve as a clearinghouse for new policy proposals. We'll keep track of ideas the candidates put forward, offer some of our own, and invite elected officials from around the country to weigh in on what works.
Right now, the only link on the page... leads to a Harold Ford speech.
The entire post is at the link above. Of course, it's not literally true that no ideas have been put forth by the Democratic candidates. Edwards has a national health care plan, Kucinich proposes a "Department of Peace," Obama apparently envisions governing by inspirational clichés, and they all want to turn tail and run from Iraq, differing only upon the speed.
But the DLC is a centrist group, formed by then-Arkansas Governor Bill Clinton and others to ensure the Democratic Party's message appealed to the middle-of-the-road voters. Those far-left policies and pronouncements will never have broad appeal as their particulars become known. So from the point of view of the DLC and Harold Ford, Jr., the basket IS empty.

Ford can simply ask his family. Criminals always know the ins and outs.
