If you were assigned to produce a parody of a political ad, one which said absolutely nothing of substance but attempted to construct an image for a candidate voters would never envision on their own, you could scarcely do better than the following one - which the Edwards campaign is airing now with a straight face:
From Patrick Hynes at Ankle Biting Pundits, who comments:
She actually hits an offensive crescendo when she states, "It's unbelievably important than in our president we have someone who can stare the worst in the face and not blink." Is she talking about Rudy Giuliani who literally inhaled the ashes of his incinerated neighbors on the worst day in American history? Or John McCain who suffered at the hands of his torturous captors for five-plus years? No, no. She's talking about John Edwards who made a killing as a trial lawyer and served a single term in the U.S. Senate.Puh-lease.
The Edwards campaign's "30 Years" ad is easily the worst ad of this still-young election cycle. But it has set the bar for badness so high I can't imagine a worse ad taking its place between now and Election Day, 2008. But it's a long cycle.

Personally, I can't believe they failed to mention he has great hair. Teeth, too. He could be a male model, or maybe replace Keith Hernandez as Walt Frazier's co-endorser of "Just For Men" hair coloring, because as a candidate for President, he is going be "RE-jected!"

"It's unbelievably important than in our president we have someone who can stare the worst in the face and not blink."
Actually this is probably true of Edwards as he stares the worst in the face every time he looks in a mirror, and I doubt his own reflection makes him blink.
Edwards may be a disingenuous socialist-regressive at best and pure evil at worst, but he does epitomize the modern American Democrat Party.
