UPDATE 16 Aug 3:10 p.m.: It's now official.
Deborah Pryce, Republican who has represented Ohio's 15th District for seven terms, will not seek reelection in 2008, reports John McCarthy of the Associated Press:
Seven-term Republican Rep. Deborah Pryce, who last year faced the toughest race of her congressional career, won't seek re-election in 2008, Republicans said Wednesday.
The Columbus Dispatch, quoting Republican sources it did not identify, reported on its Web site that Pryce was strongly considering leaving Congress at the end of next year.A highly placed Republican official later confirmed to The Associated Press that Pryce would not seek re-election. The official spoke only on condition of anonymity because Pryce had not made the announcement. She scheduled a news conference for Thursday in Columbus.
Read the rest at the link above. If she's not going to run again, now is the time to announce it. She barely won reelection in 2006 - her closest race ever - after a recount over Democrat Mary Jo Kilroy, who intends to try again. This at least gives the GOP a fighting chance to find a good replacement candidate.
For those who won't miss her because of a "RINO" voting record, remember how much you're enjoying the leftists who replaced other RINOs in the midterms.
