Blogger files FEC complaint vs. Fred Thompson

Lane Hudson, the same leftist blogger who posted the first emails between disgraced Republican Rep. Mark Foley and a former congressional page, has filed a complaint against Fred Thompson with the FEC, claiming a violation of the rules governing "exploratory committees," reports Jim Kuhnhenn of the Associated Press:

The blogger, Lane Hudson, submitted his complaint to the Federal Election Commission on Monday saying Thompson has raised far more money than he needs to explore whether to run for president.

Federal law allows potential candidates to raise money to travel, conduct polls and pay for other expenses related to "testing the waters" for a political campaign. During that exploratory period, a potential candidate does not have to file financial reports with the FEC.

The law prohibits anyone who is "testing the waters" from hoarding the money for use during his actual campaign. Potential candidates also cannot refer to themselves as candidates, can't run ads that publicize their intention to campaign or take steps to qualify for the ballot in a primary or caucus state.

Read the rest at the link above. It's hard to imagine that Thompson's non-campaign campaign stepped over the lines of permissible conduct with the committee, given that the long "exploration" is apparently part of his strategy. However, the actual complaint isn't included, and it is possible Fred may have said the wrong thing in his constant efforts to be coy about his intentions.

Of course, it is equally possible that Hudson yearns for a return to the spotlight he enjoyed with the Foley scandal last year.

Wow! Fred! has raised too much money for an exploratory committee. Sounds like a subjective bench mark to me. How much is too much?

Better to be in that position than not raising enough to even fund an exploratory effort - see Tom Vilsack. Think he shut down his exploratory committee and was in debt.

The filing might accomplish one thing:

To FOCUS Fred's mind and bring him out of whatever haze he's in. I've never seen such a shuffler and mumbler taken so seriously before.

Unless the whole thing is a charade, a reward for putting his Hollywood nameplate over the D.C./NYC insider-run LibbyTrust.

The establishment is using flattery and Fred's probably humouring his wife. The badly ghost-written articles under his name since his "contemplation" is a classic method of ego stroking and public "mentioning". All the typos uncorrected (at NRO "300")shows it was by rote and not for an adjudged A-lister. Flattery-by-number.

Too many skeletons to be taken seriously, too, considering his lack of FOCUS:

Cuban cigars, AEI membership (as token fool), defending Libby even though Plame's outing compromised US human assets through exposure of Brewster-Jennings as a CIA shell operation in the middle east, CFR membership, pro-abortion lobbying and even his lobbying was if by ghost: low billing hours, etc.

Explain to me, if you can, bD, why gay people let the Democrats conflate homosexuality and child predation, without putting up a whimper.

Do you like that?

The counter-reformation kicked the harlots out of the Holy See and replaced them with armies of boy singers to fuel the new musick.

Since many of the most ferocious partisans, left and right in America are/were Catholic, the man-boy culture revolving around church life may have coloured their opinions.

bD, you're pretty bright, but Ace hardly seems 'asexual'. And you have some pretty stereotypical ideas about 'closeted gays'.

In other ways, I'd have to consider you 'one of the ones'. Except when you're coy.

He compares a vulva (sorry!) to play-doh and bacon.(!!!)

OK, he's a virgin. We'll compromise.

And "hardly seems asexual"? The guy (a 30-something chickenhawk) cites a comic book pirate motto on his header. Something about slitting throats.

Right! A giant pear with legs slitting someone's throat.

Not only that. He has exposited in delusional detail (5 paragraphs minimum) of beating up certain public figures. Physically. My man, Ron Paul, being one. (hisss!)

(BTW, Ron Paul could "take" him! One shot. Solar plexus. Diet Coke vomitus.)

So, Google the last. There's my grudge. :-)

I'm not coy about anything. Have you seen the latest Amy Diamond upload on YOUTUBE?

And that Amy Diamond thing . . . you must be Euro=peon, because it's way too ghey for American homosexuals . . .

Wow, check out my "Fred! vs Ghouliani" comment.

Ace is a regular Odin in his malevolent influence, isn't he? An anti-Uhura.

I was expecting "pedophile". Thx for the slack!
