Senator Hillary Clinton has won the first endorsement from a major labor union in the Presidential race, reports John Whitesides for Reuters:
Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton picked up the first national labor endorsement of the 2008 White House race on Tuesday, winning the support of the 125,000-member United Transportation Union.
The union, which represents active and retired members of the railroad, bus and public transit industries, said it would devote "considerable resources" to backing the New York senator in the 2008 race."The UTU has a long history of picking winners early. Hillary will be a president that America's working families can count on," said union president Paul Thompson.
Read the whole story at the above link. This is something of a blow to rivals Senator Barack Obama and John Edwards, who have also made strong bids for labor support. The AFL-CIO made no endorsement this year, freeing member unions to back their own candidates. Senator Dodd is expected to receive the firefighters' union endorsement soon.

Whomever gets the SEIU endorsement immediately goes on my sh*t list. SEIU is the most corrupt organization in the United States, bar none.

Does "red state" mean Republican?
Craft union members might have "snuck" a vote for Reagan back in the day. But the out-sourcing multi-national (arrogant)corporate culture has scotched any forbearance by unions toward "new friends" running for office and asking for things. Plus the scabrous open borders scheme is seen as a wage war by "management". Management being synonymous with Republican.
And that's the way it is...

It is a peculiarly progressive irony that they sneer at people who vote other than only their economic interests.
You should be able to appreciate that. What say?

We have uninspected Mexican trucks due to roll like a juggernaut across the US border on Labor Day and you bring up the Wobblies!
We have doo doo on our spinach from Mexican peons who still use dung forks. Sorry if my wrinkled nose resembles a sneer.
As far as "other than only their economic interests", research the original definition of economy. Then research the definition of capital.
