Wednesday night the Rudy Giuliani campaign webcast the former Mayor from a New Jersey "house party" to over 1000 "satellite" parties in private homes around the country. The event struck as the deadline for contributions loomed for the third-quarter reporting period, and just after the campaign fired the finance chairman.
The idea isn't new, but in the "old days" candidates spoke over the telephone, and interaction wasn't on the program. Howard Dean may have been the first to use a webcast to link house parties, but I'm unsure of that.
Watch the Rudy House Party video here, but you'll have to "register" with your name and email, which I assume means you'll be on the mailing list.
Giuliani was introduced by baseball and philosophy legend Yogi Berra. Yogi gave his reasons for endorsing Rudy, reported by Matthew Continetti of the Campaign Standard:
Giuliani was introduced by Yogi Berra, who told the audience the two reasons he is supporting Giuliani:1) Giuliani is a Yankees fan.
2) Giuliani is Italian.
Read Matt's whole post at the link above. You must admit, given Yogi's criteria, Rudy was the only candidate in either party who fills the bill.

"Nobody goes there anymore, it's too crowded". Wait, that's not Yogi. Thank God for jocks.
