I am continually amazed at the number of people who have donated money to Barack Obama's Presidential campaign. Do these people not listen to the man? His optimistic generalities were over-worn by March, and when he speaks to the specifics of issues, he rarely makes any sense. His debate answers have done nothing to change this impression, and apparently I'm not the only one - from Roger Simon, still on strike but writing nonetheless:
I caught most of the Democratic debate tonight and I was astonished by how unprepared Obama seemed to be on the most obvious question of the evening - how he stood on illegal aliens having driver's licenses. This is the very subject he had used to nail Hillary Clinton at the previous debate, yet his answer to this same question this time was, if anything, more evasive than Hillary's at the other debate. [Video here.]Surely his handlers must have prepared him for this question. Otherwise they are rank incompetents. So there can only be one conclusion: Barack Obama does not really want to be President.
Read it all, and access the hyper-links, at the link above. Simon surmises the recent showing of cracks in Hillary's facade scared the fool out of Obama, who suddenly realized he might still have a chance to win. No one should know better than the Senator himself how woefully unprepared for the job he truly is, so the theory goes, and he "threw" the debate to make sure he and the country aren't placed in that uncomfortable position.
Interesting take on it. Alternatively, of course, Obama could just be an idiot.

I have always thought Perot... (Below threshold)1. Posted by Steve_in_Corona | November 16, 2007 3:48 PM | Score: 0 (0 votes cast)
I have always thought Perot never wanted to win in 1992 - and when he was leading in the polls and gaining momentum he drops out of the race. His later return thus guaranteed that he would not win, but still allowed him to debate, appear on Larry King etc. Nobody who wants to be President drops out of the race, unless there is significant enough reason to KEEP them out of the race.
Likewise with Obama - if the guy WANTED to win the job, how could he not be trying harder to take down Hillary? So I agree, I do not think he really is running for this job - this year.

It is frightening to read some of the things Obama proposes. The guy is in over his head. Edwards just panders for votes. Clinton is cold and calculating and scares me to death. Our guys had better come up with a candidate who can beat her.

On topic: quite entertaining for a Democratic debate. The low threshold thing.
Kucinich is the most honest, Biden has the highest IQ., Obama is still psycically in thrall to the One Drop rule.

Joe Biden said it for me, Hell No I won't support the winner! sarc. But, Dems who think, not feel, should rethink their Party. Their Party has been taken over by loons and socialist pacifists. Today, Harry Reid said he would never fund the troops until they withdrew. Now that is brilliant strategy just as Al Qu is on the ropes. What a genius! What a Quisling and Alger Hiss type.
