The latest national poll by Reuters/Zogby, released today, shows a virtual tie in the Democratic nomination contest. John Whitesides reports for Reuters:
Clinton, a former first lady who would be the first woman U.S. president, held a 21-point edge over Obama in October. He cut that to 8 points by last month, and the new survey gave her a 39 percent to 38 percent edge. Her 1-point lead was well within the poll's margin of error of 4.7 percentage points.
Obama, who would be the first black U.S. president, and Clinton were essentially deadlocked among a variety of groups, including men, women, Democrats and independents. Obama led substantially, 65 percent to 15 percent, among black voters.
Full results at the link above. On the Republican side, the poll found McCain leading with 28% over Huckabee's 23%, Thompson's 14%, Romney at 13%, and Giuliani falling to 9% support. The survey was taken last week, before the Romney victory in Michigan.
Zogby also found no groundswell of support for an independent run by New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg. Doh!

"Reuters/Zogby poll: Hillary, Obama now tied"
It's going to be a Clinton-Obama ticket. End. Full stop.
"...the poll found McCain leading with 28% over Huckabee's 23%, Thompson..."-ja
(Noted.) In the NEWS, Sen. Tom Coburn has just endorsed McCain. If you not familiar with the name, your not a fiscal conservative. Suffice it to say, he has an excellent national reputation and will steal some Bible belt states out from under Huckabee's nose, and for McCain.
Bad, bad, bad for Huck. And Romney. And even certain newer Paulites.
Word: Big News. You'll see.

McCain has lost his national lead according to today's Rasmussen tracker. A loss in South Carolina could be a fatal blow to his campaign as the Super Tuesday states are not at all in his favor.
