Zogby poll: McCain, Huckabee lead in SC

The latest poll of likely South Carolina Republican primary voters shows McCain holding a lead over Huckabee, 29 - 23%, with Romney in third with 13%. Details on the CNN/Reuters/Zogby poll.

The poll ended today, so Romney's Michigan victory wasn't a factor. Given the flux polls in SC have shown (each of the top five GOP candidates has lead within the last 90 days), the Michigan results are likely to affect the race here.

I have been bewildered all ... (Below threshold)
Alan Orfi:

I have been bewildered all week wondering how the heck McCain was maintaining a lead in SC as it is not at all his kind of state. I still think he will falter... and that leaves a most interesting struggle between Huckabee and Romney. The X-Factor, of course, is Thompson, who has been cutting into Huckabee's base. I do not think Romney's post-Michigan "bounce" will be quite as significant as some are speculating because Huckabee and Thompson supporters are fairly entrenched in their positions and there are only so many Christian conservatives to go around.

Huckabee's being proclaimed... (Below threshold)
Alan Orfi:

Huckabee's being proclaimed "Worst Person in the World" by Keith Olberman on Thursday will most certainly propel him to victory.
