I don't live in the Florida 19th Congressional District but I got a email from Robert Wexler today. Here it comes-
Dear WILLIAM,I replied back to the Congressman-I have been a member of Congress for 12 years, representing Palm Beach and Broward Counties in Congress and speaking on behalf of Floridians and progressives throughout the country.
As you may know, I don't have a reputation for quiet acceptance of the status quo. I fought hard for our priorities when the Republicans controlled Congress, and I continue to fight hard today, under a Democratic majority.
In these days, with the challenges we face, we must remain vocal and steadfast.
Last night, President Bush issued what will thankfully be his final State of the Union address, but he continues to advocate the same reckless policies that have been the hallmark of his Administration.
For the past seven years, we have watched as America has moved steadily backwards. We have become a nation that is less free and less fair. We have become a nation that no longer values the right to privacy and has tragically retreated from our cherished foundations.
I strongly believe that if we pull together as Democrats and re-commit ourselves to the core beliefs that made our party strong - we can initiate bold change in our nation.
- Homeowners must be protected from rising property taxes and shady corporate lending practices that have led to a huge rise in foreclosures;
- We must provide affordable access to health insurance to every American;
- We must take aggressive measures to prevent climate change and protect our environment;
- We must end our reliance on foreign oil and push for clean new energy sources; and
- We must finally act on the promises of the 2006 election and stop at nothing to bring our troops home from Iraq.
More than anything, Democrats need to finally stand up to the abuses and illegalities of the Bush-Cheney Administration.
Nowhere in American history - not even Watergate - have we been confronted with an Administration so ambivalent about the truth. A recent nonpartisan study found that the Bush Administration almost 900 times in the prelude to the Iraq war, misleading us on nearly every critical issue.
I have, for the past two months, aggressively pursued impeachment hearings for Vice President Dick Cheney. Recently, I took the floor of the House to explain why. If you haven't seen the video, you can view it HERE.
Impeachment hearings are essential because the Administration has recklessly used claims of executive privilege to block key witnesses from testifying. Impeachment hearings could force the Administration to drop their executive privilege claims, and we would then finally get the answers this nation deserves. We are making progress with over 216,000 Americans already registering their support at WexlerWantsHearings.com.
I want to know what you think: Please click here and tell me if you support immediate impeachment hearings.
We must rededicate ourselves to the core values of this nation and finally deliver to the American people the change they demanded when they stood up and voted for Democrats in 2006.
If we agree on what the problems are, it makes sense to work together to reach solutions.
I value your support, and I am thankful for your patriotism.
Together, we can begin to restore the state of our Union.
I am running for re-election this year and I encourage you to visit my website www.wexlerforcongress.com to learn more about my race and positions on key issues.
With warm regards,Congressman Robert Wexler
Congressman,What I said in my Knucklehead post this holds true-I'm a Florida blogger. A registered Democrat in Palm Beach County, who blogs under the name Florida Masochist.
What do I think about the idea of impeaching Cheney? It can be summed up in this post.
http://thefloridamasochist.blogspot.com/2007/12/knucklehead-of-day-award_11.html
I'll give you a hint, the person getting the Knucklehead isn't VP Cheney.
Cheers,
William Jempty
The Congressman has twice previously won my award. That's three more awards than VP Cheney has, but an equal amount to that I've given to President Bush. Wexler kept a pretty low profile for 2006 and much of 2007.What do higher fuel-efficiency standards, expanded children's health care and improved relations with Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono have in common?so you have to weigh that when considering his statements. That doesn't make them any more outrageous. How are any of these legislative ideas going to be influenced by an impeachment? Actually the side show an impeachment would create would keep congress from getting anything done. Especially with another election coming up in less than a year. I won't even mention the downright lack of reasons for impeachment also. What are the VP's duties again?According to U.S. Rep. Robert Wexler, D-Delray Beach, those are just a few of the benefits America can reap if Congress holds hearings on the impeachment of Vice President Dick Cheney.
******
Wexler, who represents an ultra-Democratic Palm Beach-Broward district, recently took an e-mail poll of about 3,000 constituents and found 61 percent in favor of impeaching Cheney and removing him from office. Wexler insists he hasn't prejudged the matter but wants hearings to probe whether Cheney manipulated intelligence to bamboozle the U.S. into war with Iraq, which Wexler voted to authorize in 2002.
At last week's Palm Beach County Democratic Executive Committee meeting, Wexler took issue with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's declaration that impeachment should be "off the table." And Wexler disputed the notion that impeachment hearings would be a distraction, asserting instead that they would help the Democrats' domestic agenda and lift America's status abroad.
"The way we pass stem-cell research, the way we get implemented a children's health care plan, the way we get higher CAFE (corporate average fuel economy) standards to bring our energy debacle into a better condition for generations to come is to have impeachment hearings," Wexler said. "Because that'll get the president's eye. That'll get the vice president's eye. That for the first time will show that the Democratic majority is here and that in fact we have the courage of our convictions."
Wexler was certainly talking to a sympathetic crowd,
Think I'll ever get a job blogging for Wexler Cue the sarcastic laughter.

While lying about a blow-job was probably in your opinion an impeachable act, you are able through super convoluted acts of self deception to arrive at the notion that outing an undercover CIA operative and lying and falsifying information that has lead to the deaths of 4000 US service men and women perfectly acceptable behavior.
This is the kind of logic that has destroyed the conservative movement and after 8 years of Republican rule has the future of America debatable.
One thing we can agree on however is that if Clinton would have received a knobber from another another man,r this is an accepted conservative practice and impeachment would probably not been pursued.

DrLava, he lied under oath, that is what was impeachable. It doesn't matter what he lied about, although he lies about everything.
