McCain goes to Washington to go hands on and get the bailout passed against heavy House Republican resistance...and we end up with a bill containing $110 Billion in earmarks? You're doing a heck of a job, Johnnie! But Sarah did ok too. She got a $49 million earmark for her pals in Alaska.

This Washington Post VP debate fact-check accounting shows Palin and Biden as about even on the mis-speak scale, but that isn't stopping the more rabid of the right from doing some heavily partisan oral foaming, pointing out Biden's oops and conveniently ignoring Palin's wrongs in the process. A real-time poll sampling over 1000 debate viewer reactions found Independent voters swarming for Biden 3-1 or more.

Today's results on this three day tracking poll do not factor in the Palin/Biden debate. Saturday's results will have one full day of post-debate results, Sunday's results will have two days, and only on Monday will we know the full effect of the VP debate on McCain and Obama's Gallup Daily poll standings.

Well we clap outselves on the back for dignity, go to Free Republic and see just the opposite reactions. Wow. Not one thanks for his refusal to mock the Messiah. If things go this way, Obama will win all 50 states since no one will ever criticize his lackings and empty suited pacifist socialism. We will have a nice Bob Dole election I surmise. Nice of John to be so nice but .....will he really go after this Messiah? If so, how?

If it depends on the ability to get down and dirty, don't worry about McCain. He's the meanest SOB in the valley - always has been.
The difference is that he never gets his own hands dirty doing the nasty stuff, and he has carefully constructed an image of being above all that sort of thing. But rest assured, the long knives will be flashing.
Few remember how he lost SC in 2000. He had closed to within the MOE, largely riding the sympathy of the media myth about the "push poll" about his adopted child, which had nothing to do with the Bush campaign and had reached few households, being the brainchild of a single fundamentalist preacher who had seen the spurious email circulating on the subject and believed it.
In the final debate just before the vote, Bush condemned the man for about the tenth public time, but asked McCain to also stop the negative campaigning his own campaign was running. McCain denied this emphatically, whereupon Bush pulled a flyer out of his coat pocket, paid for by McCain and distributed at 15 Wal-Marts across the state that weekend, which were pure attacks on Bush. McCain was caught lying to SC, and got his ass kicked in the primary.
He may have 'won' the state this year, but he drew a smaller % of the vote than he did in losing in 2000. We know how hard he will fight, though.
