Absentee ballots go missing in Florida primary race

How my home state could ever hold a mail-in primary without more of the same is beyond me. From AP-

CLEARWATER, Fla.-- Postal officials are investigating the loss of 1,117 absentee ballots in a hotly contested race for a state House seat.

The ballots for the March 25 primary in the House District 55 race were delivered to a postal center on Monday, but officials don't know what happened to them after that.

The mailings were meant for residents who requested absentee ballots. Replacement ballots have been mailed.

The seat was vacated in February when Frank Peterman Jr., a Democrat from St. Petersburg, was appointed to lead the Department of Juvenile Justice.

Aside from the missing ballots, this has been a lively race. With threats of physical violence and one candidate filing a police report. Don't you just love the Sunshine State?

Bill, remember 2000! and then again remember all the problems in Broward Co with Elefant* they found boxes of absentee ballots in the closets of her office.

*I know her names sounds like Elephant because when she was recalled (fired?) a co-worker said, "They will be kicking her out the big doors, you know the elephant doors", I just don't remember how it is spelled.

We also have the snow birds registering in both NY and FL, and then voting absentee in the other state.

The system is broke, with many outdated and missing pieces.
