The Raging Hypocrisy of Hillary on Michigan

This is so easy it's child's play.

Here's what Hillary had to say about the January Michigan primary back in October from a WaPo story entitled "Clinton Defends Michigan Ballot Stand":

"It's clear, this election they're having is not going to count for anything,"

Today Hillary flew to Michigan for a "campaign" rally, and here's what she said reported by Ben Smith:

"When others made a decision to remove their names from the ballot, I didn't, because I believed your voices and your votes should count."

She gets even more pathetic:

"It is a bedrock American principle that we are all equal in the voting booth.

"For me, it has been a long struggle to get to the point where barriers were knocked down and doors opened. ... It is the vote that has given voice to the voiceless and power to the powerless. ... It is through that vote that women, African-Americans, Latinos and so many others have claimed our rights as full and equal citizens," she said, citing those who had "marched and protested, risked and gave their lives for this right."

Puhleeezzzz! Should we break out the violins now? Maybe we should pass some hankies around so we can all have a good cry!

Hillary's hypocrisy on Michigan is simply breathtaking. If she felt the original Michigan primary was legitimate why didn't she say so before the election was actually held? Why didn't she fight against the DNC's decision to penalize Florida and Michigan before the Iowa caucus and New Hampshire primary?

Hillary is clearly getting desperate because she realizes she has virtually no chance of overcoming Obama's lead. Whatever chance she might have had drops to almost zero if there is no re-vote in Michigan and Florida. She's grasping for straws at this point because it's clear that her kitchen sink strategy didn't work.

drivensnow:

Clinton has forgotten she SIGNED a pledge, to not campaign in or RECOGNIZE any results of any state that is penalized by the DNC for breaking party rules pertaining to the movement of their primaries. I cannot emphasize enough....she SIGNED a contract. if she won't honor a written contract, how can she be trusted to keep her spoken word. I have a solution for her. If Michigan and Florida are so important in getting their delegates seated, how about a 50/50 split ?? That way all delegates are seated...Bet she "ain't" buying that one.

She hasn't forgotten - she ... (Below threshold)

She hasn't forgotten - she just doesn't see why the rules should apply to her! After all, she IS the Queen... or will be fifteen minutes after she's sworn in ... so ANYTHING is justifiable to get those delegates!

Hey, if you think Hillary violated some contract, SUE HER!

The Obama people are apoplectic because Hillary is trying to get some representation for Michigan and Florida. What they never mention is that the question of delegates being seated is really something the DNC has no control over. It's the sole authority of the Credentials Committee of the Convention, and the only appeal of their decision will be to the full Convention.

Neither candidate will control a majority of delegates, so they won't be able to control Credentials, either. Just as with the nomination itself, the votes of some super delegates will be required to win. They will have their own list of things to consider, and the authority and credibility of the DNC in the next cycle's primaries will likely be very far down it.

If it comes to that, the result of that vote will be an early indicator of how the nomination vote will go, too. If enough of the super delegates vote with Hillary to seat the Florida and Michigan delegations, it means they will be voting for her later.

Well, the Democratic party sure has come up with an un-democratic method of selecting candidates, that is certain.

You know what the dem party asking for "do-overs" sounds reminiscent of?

Allow your minds to go back ... back...back to those days on the childhood school playground.

Remember the games played; and what happened if one person or 'a group' didn't like the results at the end? What was heard shouted?
DO OVER! DO OVER! DO OVE-EEEEEEEEER!

It certainly speaks much.

p.s. heh heh ...yup, DO OVER DO OVER...what
else would one expect from a party that screams "rights" without understanding of
RESPONSIBILITY of ACTIONS - FIRST.

"you have the right to abort the results that come from your own free will action of sex without commitment FIRST" (WRONG. you have the
responsibility to THINK before acting as the intelligent human person you are, the word for such is SELF CONTROL. SELF CONTROL is a 'gift' of THE SPIRIT.

It is one sign of THE MATURE of SPIRIT.

Then of course, if of female persuasion (or in some cases male) if one 'entices' the weak of flesh in how one dresses, it does not show one
of a mature spirit, that considers the other's
'weakness' and thus does not TEMPT.

Modest dress shows class.

ahhh yes, maturity of spirit. It goes well beyond the mere exchanging of short pants for long and clip on ties for regular ties. It goes beyond 'just making dollars' and 'driving a car' It's HOW one makes thier livlihood and for what reason and HOW they drive on the roadways (giving consideration to others)

and 'work' is not just about income producing work. It is mature to work so as to improve SELF. To read and learn to THINK. (and this is done whether in school or out of official school) Take continuing education classes continually, take seminars, keep seeking and learning of GOD - via Bible study classes in bonafide churches. (bonafide aka 'bona' meaning good and 'fide' aka fidelity thus 'IN GOOD FAITH churches that seek first THE HONOR OF THE SPIRIT OF GOD. Work includes; caring for one's family (children of your own or if single, mother, father, siblings...ie: being there to spend time together, listen, speak if asked but really to just listen) Help with chores around one's own home.

ahhh work...there's so much to it than JUST work for income. LIFE is WORK. That's TRUTH.
The degree of understanding of the truth that life is work, will bring about 'the fruit' of such understanding. ie: work hard; life will actually be 'free' of many difficulties. 'slack off' - and eventually there will be A BIGGER MESS that will eventually need straightening out.

Maturity understands: do it 'a little at a time' one step at a time.

THEN...have some FUN. (when the work is done)

As I understand it, the DNC under Howard Dean gets to appoint a small group that would essentially be the tie-breakers. I am sure they are very unlikely to against Dean who has fought so hard to enforce these rules.

Lee Ward[TypeKey Profile Page]:

Obama and his surrogates are going overboard to insure that the Democrats in Florida and Michigan don't have a say in the nominating process.

Yes, the rules were violated by the party committees in those states, but the voters shouldn't be punished - their voices should be heard, and a do over provides for that.

This is another example of Obama's lies and hypocrisy.

Obama claims there is no red America and no blue America - just the United States of America, but the reality for Obama is that there is a Clinton America and a McCain America and an Obama America, and in this instance Obama does everything he can to insure that the Clinton America doesn't get a chance to vote for thier candidate.

Why did the voters in Michigan and Florida do to deserve this treatment from the "great uniter" ? They showed in the previous primaries that they favored Clinton, and for that reason alone Barack Obama is blocking a do over.

Barack Obama has failed again to deliver on flower speeches and promises.
