One of the great aspects of advancing computer and internet technology is that the new tools it brings to bear can be used in new and innovating ways by very different people for very different tasks. A recent "cool tool" is an internet measure of blog posts on Obama and Wright. For purposes of comparison, it also records blog mentions of Obama without any mention of Wright.
Looking at the graph, we can see the explosion of coverage when the story began to "break" on Thursday the 13th, peaking over the following weekend and through Obama's speech, after which it has begun to subside a bit (although still pretty high). Saturday may have been the first day in a week and a half to see fewer than 6000 posts mentioning both men (but I'm not certain the number is final, although I suspect it is).
Only time and events will tell how quickly the coverage subsides, but Obama seems to be betting that it will. His campaign has returned to silent mode about Wright, allowing mainly unconnected surrogates to carry the defense since his speech. His problem may be the point in the political schedule. With the GOP decided, and the remaining Democratic contests fewer and farther between, there isn't so much other political news to fill up the plate.
In any case, the tool is an interesting one with many potential uses.
