Obama Opens up Big Lead in the Gallup Survey

Obama is now up 50 to 42 according to Gallup:

I wonder what Sean Hannaty has to say about Obama's "freefall" now? I wonder what Bill O'Reilly has to say about the "devastating" impact of the Wright controversy on Obama's candidacy.

It's obvious that Clinton-supporters like Hannaty and O'Reilly were telling their audience what they hoped was happening rather than what actually was happening. Yes, there was a shift towards Clinton at the peak of the Wright affair but it could hardly be said that Obama was in freefall.

The first couple of days after an imbroglio like the Wright story breaks is far too soon to assess its impact on a race. You need to give these things a few weeks to see if there is any long-lasting impact. It's clear from the Gallup poll that, at least when it come to Democratic voters, there's been effectively zero impact.

Larkin, this is what happens when Lee takes a three day holiday...I think the Republicans have filed away the Wright imbroglio to use later, but I noticed that only 10% (scroll down /an interesting Pew poll) of Americans now think Obama is a Muslim , so that is a blessing; that is a fall from what it was two weeks ago when 13% thought he was a Muslim (Hillary wasn't completely sure).

Here is the correct link of the Pew Poll released yesterday. It is a good reference. Scroll down a little for the public's opinion of Obama's religion.

Let's see, we now get the news that almost 30% of Clinton's supporters will vote for McCain rather than Obama, and you tell us Wright has had zero impact?

Stunning...
