Australian PM salutes President Bush

As you may expect, people aren't happy about it.

Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd was Friday attacked by politicians at home for saluting US President George W. Bush during a social gathering for world leaders in Romania. Footage of the newly-elected Labor prime minister making the gesture among NATO leaders in Bucharest has been widely shown on Australian television.

Opposition leader Brendan Nelson described Rudd's behaviour as "conduct unbecoming of an Australian prime minister."

"Mr Rudd appears to conduct himself in one manner when he thinks the television is upon him and another when it is not," he said.

Mr. Nelson you mean that you don't act differently when in front of television cameras? Truthfully I don't know anyone who doesn't.

The PM said it was his way of saying hi. Get over it Brendan Nelson.
